Holland Urania Vase (attributed to Friedrich Adler)
Dutch pewter vase from the Urania factory in Maastricht. Probably made in 1904. The vase is clearly marked with "Holland Urania 1034" and was pictured in the original Urania Catalogue. The vase is in very good condition and has a nice patina.
Given the design and the low item number (1034) it is very likely that the vase has been designed by the famous German-Jewish artist Friedrich Adler (1878-1942). A similar style can be seen with pewter Osiris bjects which were also designed by Adler.
The items from the Urania factory are very rare given the short existence of the company. Most items were exported to Germany, UK and US.
A model of this vase has also been pictured in the very well known book about Urania by Kwint.
Dimensions: H: 29 cm - W: 18 cm
