'Ode al Mar' is an exceptional piece by Sandra Keja Planken. It is a tapestry combined with hand-blown glass icicles. It is made from recycled yarn, residual yarn, recycled glass and residual glass. Sandra has created this tapestry in the Glass Museum Leerdam and Textiel Museum Tilburg.

About Sandra

Sandra is known for her shape-shifting designs, art, collectibles and artistic interiors. With her fascination for nature she creates collectibles that tell stories. Her story and that of the relationship between man and nature.

Ode al Mar is Sandra's latest collection and completely inspired by the sea. "I need the sea because it teaches me the best I can be.".

The collectibles, ranging from glassware to tapestries, an enchanting wall lamp where glass and textile art embrace each other, and her wall coverings seem to change or otherwise move. The objects result in amorphous natural forms, each with a unique emotion. They therefore embrace your brain and relax through shape, texture and colors. Her vivid imagination of unraveling the material form and her thoughts incorporated in bold colors, different materials, treatments, textures and techniques literally make you part of her work.

With a human-centered approach to stimulate your own imagination, she builds her latest pieces by hand painting, collaging and implementing 3D techniques for the basic shapes, after which these are translated into her handmade yarns, landscape tapestries and glassware.

Their shapes invite you to talk to them instead of just looking at them. Ultimately, her 'little Omen's as nature, universe and life forms' are a call for 'openness of mind. A sensory play and looking ahead with hope.

"

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
