A functional object elevated through craftsmanship. This solid oak coat rack by Giuseppe Rivadossi reflects the designer's lifelong dedication to wood, combining sculptural form with everyday practicality. Accompanied by its original certificate, it is a fine example of Rivadossi's distinctive approach to furniture making.

Design

Crafted entirely from solid oak, the coat rack is built around four vertical posts that rise from a geometric octagonal base. The timber has been hand-worked, revealing the characteristic faceted texture that defines many of Rivadossi's creations. Rather than concealing the marks of the tools, the surface celebrates them, allowing the craftsmanship to remain visible throughout.

Three levels of hooks project from each side, creating twelve generously sized hanging points in total. At the base, integrated trays are carved from solid wood to hold umbrellas, walking sticks, or small everyday items. Their rounded recesses add a subtle decorative element while reinforcing the practical nature of the design. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the softened edges of the hooks to the precise joinery that gives the piece its architectural character.

Giuseppe Rivadossi founded Officina Rivadossi in Brescia, where he developed a highly personal design language rooted in traditional woodworking techniques. His furniture combines strong geometric forms with expressive hand-finished surfaces, resulting in pieces that feel timeless rather than tied to a particular period. This coat rack embodies that philosophy, serving equally well as a practical entrance piece or as a sculptural object within an interior.

Condition

The coat rack has been professionally restored while preserving its original character and patina. It remains in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use consistent with its period.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
