This elegant folding screen by Baumann Fils & Cie captures the essence of 1940s French design. Crafted from pine, it offers both functionality and a touch of Art Deco elegance.

Design
The Baumann folding screen exemplifies the ingenuity of mid-century French design. Constructed from vertical pine slats, this piece showcases a harmonious blend of form and function. The screen's undulating top edge adds a dynamic visual flow, allowing it to stand as both a decorative and practical element in any space. Its flexible construction enables it to be easily folded or extended, adapting to various interior layouts. The warm tones of the pine and the screen's organic curves reflect the transitional style of late Art Deco moving into mid-century modernism. Baumann Fils & Cie, known for their expertise in decorative woods, have imbued this screen with a timeless quality that speaks to their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

A versatile piece, this folding screen not only serves as a room divider but also as a statement of mid-century elegance. Its design allows for easy adaptation to different interior settings. This version is relatively large measuring 320 cm in length.

This piece has a metal maker's plaque.

Condition
The screen is in very good vintage condition, with signs of wear consistent with its age; e.g. small scratches, localised darkening, particularly along the lower edge. The pine slats remain intact, maintaining the screen's structural integrity. It has a very nice patina.
