Add an elegant statement to your interior with the Large Floor Lamp LT 379, a stunning vintage piece from Mazzega, designed by Carlo Nason. This exceptional lamp embodies the refined craftsmanship and avant-garde design of Murano glass.
Carlo Nason
Born into a family with a long-standing tradition in Murano glassmaking, Carlo Nason took a different path from his ancestors. While his father, Vincenzo Nason, focused on traditional, intricately decorated glasswork, Carlo embraced the modernist movement, pushing the boundaries of glass design through bold experimentation.
Beyond creating pieces for renowned manufacturers such as I TRE, Kalmar, Vistosi, Murano Due, and Firme di Vetro, Nason maintained a longstanding collaboration with Mazzega. His passion for contemporary lighting design led him to work closely with Gianni Mazzega, a family friend, to develop groundbreaking modern lamps. The 1970s and 1980sbecame his most prolific and innovative decades, during which he was responsible for the majority of Mazzega’s iconic designs, cementing his legacy in the world of Murano glass.
Design
The LT 379 is constructed from individual panels of hand-molded crystal glass (ghiaccio plates), carefully designed to mimic the organic, textured beauty of melting ice. The contrast between white and tobacco-colored glass enhances its sculptural appeal, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Each glass panel is uniquely formed, showcasing Mazzega’s signature artistry and expertise.
When illuminated, the LT 379 emits a soft, golden glow that radiates warmth throughout the space. The layered crystal glass refracts light beautifully, casting a mesmerizing pattern on surrounding surfaces.
Built with a sturdy metal base, this lamp is both stylish and functional. The hand-blown Murano glass elements are securely attached to the structure, ensuring durability while preserving the delicate aesthetic. Originally designed in the 1970s, this lamp remains a highly sought-after vintage piece, perfect for collectors of authentic Italian design.
This lamp is featured in the Mazzega catalogue #9
