A classic postwar design from Ico Parisi, this set of twelve Model 110 dining chairs was created in 1961 for Figli di Amedeo Cassina, Meda. The model is well documented and illustrated on page 546 of the Parisi catalogue raisonné.
Design
The chairs show Parisi’s keen eye for proportion and line. Each frame is constructed in dark-stained teak, defined by the soft arch of the front stretchers and the elegant curve of the backrest supports. The design plays with openness and support, offering a generous seat while maintaining a visual lightness. The subtle shaping of the backrest gives just enough flex, adding to the comfort without distracting from the silhouette.
The craftsmanship is solid and efficient, reflective of Parisi’s background in both architecture and industrial design. These chairs offer a rare opportunity to acquire a complete and consistent set of twelve, retaining their original frames and construction.
The design carries the rational character of early 1960s Italian modernism, balanced with a refined sense of detail. This model sits comfortably within Parisi’s broader body of work, bridging formal elegance and everyday use.
Condition
All chairs are structurally sound and in good shape. They have been reupholstered more recently in a neutral polyester fabric, though not to our preferred standard. We would suggest reupholstering them in a material of choice to bring out their full potential and better complement the high quality of the woodwork.
Excellent responsiveness, and with wonderful curatorial chops!
