Nature has long inspired Italian designers, and this shell table lamp by Carlo Nason is a fine example. Produced by Mazzega in the 1970s, it combines organic forms with the craftsmanship of Murano glass, creating a lamp that is equally attractive switched on or off.
Design
Made from hand-blown Murano glass, the lamp is shaped as a sea shell with soft salmon-pink tones and white marbling. When illuminated, the layered glass creates a warm, diffused light that highlights the subtle texture and spiral form. Carlo Nason was known for experimenting with glass and light, and this design reflects his ability to turn a simple natural form into a functional decorative object.
Its compact size makes it suitable for a bedside table, cabinet or shelf, where it adds atmosphere without dominating the space.
Condition
The lamp is in very good vintage condition with light signs of age and use.
Excellent responsiveness, and with wonderful curatorial chops!
