A fine example of Dutch Art Deco design from the early 20th century, this table by P.E.L. Izeren was produced for Genneper Molen. Model 259 combines architectural structure with a strong graphic sensibility, typical of Izeren’s refined approach to proportion and geometry.

P.E.L. Izeren (1886–1943) was a Dutch architect and furniture designer. Trained as an architect, Izeren brought the same structural rigor and clarity of form to his furniture work. His designs often reflect the aesthetics of the Amsterdam School and the broader Dutch Art Deco movement.

Izeren is best known for his work with Genneper Molen, a furniture company founded in Eindhoven in the 1920s. The workshop was closely associated with the ideals of the Dutch Arts and Crafts movement, which emphasized craftsmanship, material integrity, and thoughtful design. Under Izeren’s artistic leadership, Genneper Molen became a platform for producing refined yet functional furniture, often for progressive clients or public commissions.

Design

The piece features a two-tier design supported by sharply tapered legs. These are finished with black-painted accents that highlight the vertical lines and create contrast against the warm wood tone. The upper tabletop displays a striking geometric inlay with a multi-tone starburst motif, expertly executed in different wood veneers. Each angle reveals a shift in pattern and reflection, drawing the eye toward the surface. A lower circular shelf connects the legs and provides both balance and function. The interplay between form and material speaks to the designer’s precise eye for detail. The sculptural silhouette is enhanced by the angular leg positioning and the rhythmic use of negative space between components.

A compact and confident piece, designed with a clear sense of rhythm and proportion. Izeren’s design remains direct and impactful, balancing decorative flair with structural clarity.

Condition

In very good condition as it got professionally restored.

"

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
