A refined example of late twentieth-century Spanish design, this rare set of ten 'Tema' bar stools was designed by Joan Casas i Ortinez for Indecasa during the 1980s. Their understated appearance combines industrial materials with carefully considered proportions, resulting in a design that feels just as relevant today as when it was introduced.

Design

The stools feature a lightweight yet sturdy brushed aluminium frame with four gently tapered legs that subtly flare towards the floor. A circular footrest reinforces the construction while adding a graphic element to the overall silhouette. The slightly curved connections between the legs and seat soften the otherwise clean architectural lines, giving the design an elegant balance between function and form.

Each stool is fitted with a solid wooden seat in a warm reddish-brown finish, creating a pleasant contrast with the cool aluminium frame. The combination of natural wood and industrial metal reflects the restrained aesthetic that characterized much of Spanish design during the final decades of the twentieth century. Although conceived as practical seating, the stools possess a sculptural quality that allows them to work equally well in residential interiors, hospitality projects, or architectural settings.

Finding a complete set of ten examples is exceptionally uncommon, making this an attractive opportunity for collectors, interior architects, and designers looking to furnish a larger space with authentic period pieces.

Condition

The stools remain in very good original condition with light signs of use consistent with age. The aluminium frames show minor wear and the wooden seats display a gentle patina with a few superficial marks. All stools retain their original Indecasa manufacturer's label.

"

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
