A rare and sculptural modular wall light by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, model LP 276, combining artisanal Murano glass with a distinctive architectural form. This applique reflects Nason’s continuous exploration of sculptural volume and modularity in light design during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Design

The applique consists of three thick glass modules arranged in a symmetrical layout, mounted on a brass structure. The elements can also be placed seperately or in a different order, being fully modular.

Each element is crafted in clear and amber Murano glass, fused with white inclusions that create a smoky, cloud-like texture. Curved edges and varying glass density generate subtle distortions of light, especially when the fixture is illuminated. The outer modules fan out while the center bridges the structure, forming a horizontal rhythm across the wall. When lit, the translucent glass diffuses the internal light source in layers, casting warm reflections outward and onto the surrounding surface. Brass mounting points are visible yet integrated into the design, emphasizing function and finish.

This model captures the designer’s unique contribution to Mazzega’s production, where craft meets technical experimentation. Its fluid geometry, together with the textured transparency of the glass, offers both utility and a strong visual identity.

These lamps are described on page 110 of the book 'Carlo Nason - glass esigner 1959-2000 - Handle with Care'

Condition

The applique is in very good condition. The glass shows no cracks or chips, and the brass fittings remain functional. Light signs of use are consistent with age. Fully tested and operational.

The dimensions are for all three elements together.
