A light architectural frame and warm upholstery give this pair of Italian bar stools an understated presence. Attributed to Dolce & Gabbana, the stools combine fashion-led glamour with a restrained geometric construction.

Design

Each stool is built from slender gold-coloured metal rods, arranged as an open framework around a square upholstered seat. Four slightly splayed legs establish the outer silhouette, joined by angular supports at the top and a broad square structure near the base. Inside, a second rectangular framework creates a footrest and adds another layer to the composition. Viewed from different angles, these intersecting lines continually change, giving the stools an almost architectural character.

Above the frame sits a softly padded square cushion upholstered in beige fabric. Its simple form provides a calm counterpoint to the reflective metal below, with piping around the edge giving the seat a clean finish. Small circular feet complete the construction and lift the slender rods just clear of the floor.

Interestingly, the two stools are not completely identical. One stands slightly taller than its companion, and their gold-coloured frames differ subtly in tone.

Together, they work particularly well at a bar or kitchen counter, where the open construction keeps their visual footprint light.

Condition

The stools remain in good vintage condition, showing surface wear, small marks and areas of discolouration to the metal consistent with use. The upholstery shows minor signs of age; one stool is slightly taller and the frame colours differ subtly, as described above.
