An elegant interplay between light and transparency, this pair of LP 235 wall lights by Carlo Nason embodies the restrained sophistication of 1970s Italian lighting design.
Design
Designed for Mazzega in the early 1970s, each wall light is composed of overlapping Murano glass discs suspended on a metal frame. The discs, slightly convex with a subtle iridescence, are individually mouth-blown and display a gentle opaline sheen that catches and refracts the light when illuminated. The layered configuration creates a rhythmic pattern of soft illumination and shadow.
Carlo Nason, renowned for his experimental work with Murano glass, frequently explored the interplay of repetition and transparency. With the LP 235, he achieved a sculptural depth using minimal means. The lights recall the modular sensibility of the period, yet maintain a quiet decorative presence. Installed in pairs or as single accents, these wall lights lend themselves well to hallways, dining areas, or bedroom settings, where a soft, diffused light is desired. The metal back plate discreetly holds the glass composition forward from the wall, enhancing the sense of dimensionality.
Condition
Both lamps remain in very good condition, with some light patina to the metal consistent with age. The glass discs are complete and free from chips or cracks. Wiring appears to be in working order but has not been newly replaced.
I recently bought some amazing Artwork from AtKris Studio online. The whole experience was amazing. The transaction was amazingly efficient. The crating and shipping of the artwork to the United States from the Netherlands could not have gone smoother and the customer service was spot on!! Krista was amazing and I highly recommend AtKris Studio!
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
Excellent responsiveness, and with wonderful curatorial chops!
