A composition of sculptural glass and light, this set of five Italian wall sconces combines geometric forms with the organic character of handmade glass. Their silver-grey appearance changes considerably when illuminated, transforming the textured surfaces into a warm play of light and shadow.

Design

Each wall sconce consists of a rectangular panel of thick, silver-grey glass, characterised by an irregular surface and flowing white latticino inclusions. The glass has an almost ice-like appearance, with trapped air bubbles, subtle variations in thickness and undulating textures that give each piece its individual character.

Two opposing, curved glass sections project forward from the rectangular base, creating a sculptural composition that alternates between concave and convex forms. These rounded elements frame the light sources and introduce a sense of movement to the otherwise geometric design.

The white latticino patterns appear suspended within the glass, forming delicate, swirling lines that contrast with its smoky grey tone. When illuminated, the glass takes on a golden hue, projecting reflections and patterns across the surrounding wall. Even when switched off, the sconces retain their sculptural quality.

Their design recalls the experimental approach to decorative glass associated with Italian lighting production during the second half of the 20th century, when glassmakers increasingly combined traditional techniques with architectural forms.

Arranged individually, in pairs or as a group of five, these sconces offer considerable freedom in composition. Their relatively compact proportions suit hallways, living areas and larger architectural installations.

The combination of textured glass, curved surfaces and warm illumination gives these five Italian wall sconces a distinctive architectural presence. Together, they form a cohesive lighting installation that is equally compelling when illuminated or unlit.

Condition

The five wall sconces appear to be in good vintage condition, with minor signs of age and use. The glass displays natural irregularities and variations inherent to its production. The lamps are equipped with E14 fixtures.
