A sculptural interplay of glass, texture and light defines this rare set of four wall lamps by Zero Quattro, produced in Italy during the 1970s. Rooted in the experimental spirit of post-war Italian lighting design, the composition balances architectural structure with the expressive quality of hand-formed glass. Each lamp carries a distinct presence, yet together they create a rhythmic arrangement across the wall, shifting in character once illuminated.
Design
Each lamp is composed of thick textured Murano glass panels mounted onto a brushed metal support. The layered glass elements alternate between clear and smoked tones, creating depth and a subtle contrast when viewed from different angles. Once lit, the irregular surface refracts the light softly, producing a warm atmospheric glow and emphasizing the organic contours within the glass. The composition recalls the sculptural lighting experiments associated with Italian makers during the 1970s, where lighting moved beyond pure function and became part of the architecture itself. These lamps can also be placed horizontally.
Zero Quattro produced lighting with a distinctly modernist language, often combining industrial frameworks with expressive handcrafted materials. In this set, the geometric mounting plate creates tension against the fluid glass structure. Seen together, the lamps form an almost modular installation, though each piece retains small variations in texture and transparency. Their proportions allow them to function equally well in a residential interior, hospitality setting or within a more restrained architectural environment.
The set reflects the broader movement in Italian lighting during the decade, where designers and manufacturers increasingly embraced textured Murano glass to diffuse light in a softer and more atmospheric manner.
Condition
The lamps remain in very good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. The glass elements are well preserved without damage, and the metal supports show a gentle patina. The Zero Quattro label remains present on the mounting structure.
Can be sold as a pair of two or the complete set of four.
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
I recently bought some amazing Artwork from AtKris Studio online. The whole experience was amazing. The transaction was amazingly efficient. The crating and shipping of the artwork to the United States from the Netherlands could not have gone smoother and the customer service was spot on!! Krista was amazing and I highly recommend AtKris Studio!
Excellent responsiveness, and with wonderful curatorial chops!
