Design

Crafted from solid walnut, the six chairs present a clean architectural frame softened by an elegantly curved laminated walnut backrest. The sculptural back splat forms a gentle wave, offering both visual rhythm and ergonomic comfort. Rather than relying on ornament, Frattini allowed the natural qualities of the timber and the precision of the construction to define the design.

Each chair stands on a slender yet sturdy frame connected by stretchers that reinforce the structure without interrupting its light appearance. The subtle tapering of the legs contributes to the balanced proportions, giving the chairs a sense of movement despite their restrained geometry. Upholstered seats in a burgundy fabric introduce a warm contrast to the walnut, complementing the wood's natural grain whilst providing comfortable seating for extended dinners.

Gianfranco Frattini was one of the leading figures of post-war Italian design. A close collaborator of Cesare Cassina and an important contributor to brands such as Bernini, Acerbis and Cassina, Frattini sought harmony between architecture, craftsmanship and everyday function. His furniture is recognised for its measured detailing, careful material selection and timeless character, qualities that are clearly present throughout this dining set. Condition

Each chair has undergone a complete restoration in our workshop. The walnut frames have been carefully restored and refinished, bringing out the warmth of the wood without compromising their original character. The seats have been reupholstered in a burgundy fabric that complements the design beautifully. The set is presented in excellent condition and is ready for everyday use.
