Leucos produced Murano glass lighting in Italy during the post-war decades, and the present pair fits that context through its labelled Italian manufacture, compact table format and substantial blown glass construction. An amazing pair in clear and pale blue-toned glass on round metal bases.

Design
Each lamp is built as a compact, tapering volume of thick glass set on a separate round base. The body narrows towards the recessed opening at the top and broadens again towards the lower edge, so the outline reads differently from eye level and from above: in profile it resembles a truncated cone, but the deep top opening makes the upper section appear heavier and more carved when seen from closer range. That recessed centre leaves the bulb visible within the form rather than hiding it behind an added shade, which makes the lamp read as a single glass element gathered around the light source.

The glass itself is organised in horizontal zones rather than one even colour. A pale blue-white band runs around the middle, held between clearer glass above and below, and this band sits on a slightly rising line rather than a rigidly level stripe. That wavering division breaks the body into three visual sections and softens the otherwise regular silhouette. Unlit, the blue cast is more apparent, especially around the rim and upper wall of the opening; once illuminated, the central band turns milkier and the clearer glass at the top and base carries a warmer amber tone from the bulb inside.

The relation between the heavy glass body and the smaller metal support is central to the design. Each lamp rests on a low circular brass-coloured base that is narrower than the widest part of the glass, so the upper element appears to sit slightly proud of its support rather than continuing directly into it. In side view this creates a clear break between the glowing body and the darker grounded base below. The underside remains visually dense, yet the narrow footprint keeps the lamp from reading as a solid block on the table. Black cords trailing from the rear add a direct utilitarian note against the more fluid form of the glass.

Close views show small trapped bubbles throughout the glass and a more irregular, slightly rippled character near the lower clear zone. These details keep the body from appearing optically flat and become more active once the lamps are lit, when the internal light catches the bubbles as points and throws soft reflections onto the white supporting surface around them. The upper opening has a thick rounded rim, and the reflective bulb cap sits low within the cavity, so the light is not emitted as an exposed point alone. Instead, it is broken by the curved inner walls of the glass, producing a ring of brightness around the top and a second brighter band through the clearer lower edge. The visible Made in Italy mark on one lamp places that identifying detail directly on the glass rather than on a hidden underside label.

Taken together, the pair is defined by the relation between a heavy, tapering glass body and a comparatively small circular base below. Their appearance changes clearly between unlit and illuminated states, with the pale blue cast more legible by day and the internal glow taking precedence once switched on.

The lamps feature a 'Leucos' sticker.

Condition
Vintage condition with visible age and use. The photographs show small scratches and scuffs to parts of the glass, small trapped bubbles from manufacture, patina and spotting to the brass-coloured bases, and age to the applied

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
