The Angelo Mangiarotti 'S11' round dining table, manufactured by Sorgente dei Mobili around the year 1970, is an exquisite piece of furniture that exemplifies timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship. With its unique features and meticulous attention to detail, this table stands as a testament to Mangiarotti's innovative vision and artistic sensibilities.

Design

One of the defining characteristics of the S11 table is its versatile design. The table's round shape creates an inviting and intimate dining experience. Furthermore, the table can be extended to accommodate larger gatherings with the inclusion of two hidden leaves. Ingeniously concealed beneath the tabletop, these leaves seamlessly slide out using a sophisticated mechanism and can be effortlessly folded, allowing for easy adjustments based on the number of guests.

The table top of the S11 is adorned with a luxurious ebony veneer, skillfully lacquered to enhance its natural beauty and durability. The rich, dark tones of the veneer create an elegant contrast against the lighter surroundings, adding an air of sophistication to any interior space. The smooth, lacquered finish not only adds a touch of refinement but also ensures easy maintenance, preserving the table's pristine appearance for years to come.

Aesthetically, the base of the S11 table is a true marvel. Composed of twelve slats that taper towards the bottom, it exhibits an architectural elegance reminiscent of Mangiarotti's renowned structural designs. These slats are meticulously connected to a solid round base, creating a visually captivating silhouette that allows light to permeate through, resulting in a captivating interplay of shadows. This distinctive feature imbues the table with a sense of lightness and grace, elevating it to an art form in its own right.

Condition

This item’s condition is consistent with age and use but shows only a few superficial scratches and scuffs. The extendable leaves have a rather matt finish and were almost not used.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
