An interplay of molten form and soft light, this pendant lamp by Carlo Nason demonstrates Murano glass at its most architectural. Designed for AV Mazzega in the 1970s, the LS 192 model reflects the era’s move towards bold experimentation with texture, light diffusion, and material presence.
Design
The shade is composed of four thick cast glass panels, each alternating between clear and satin crystal finishes. These slabs are arranged in a cross formation around the central bulb holder, attached via a brushed nickel armature. Vertical ridges and slight undulations in the glass refract and scatter the light, creating a subtle warm glow and casting soft shadows against surrounding walls. A narrow band of white sandblasted texture adds contrast and softens the transitions between clear and frosted areas.
Carlo Nason, long associated with AV Mazzega, pushed the boundaries of traditional Murano craftsmanship by adopting a more modular and sculptural approach. This pendant exemplifies that philosophy, offering a lighting object that is both restrained and sensual. It is ideal for dining areas, reading corners, or hallway installations where atmospheric lighting is key.
This model is also documented in Carlo Nason: Handle With Care (Skira, 2022), p. 124, underscoring its place in the designer’s wider oeuvre.
Condition
This pendant remains in good vintage condition. Some small traces of oxidation are visible on the metal frame, and the glass elements show minor signs of age but are without chips or cracks. The wiring has been checked and is in working order.
We have two pendant lamps available that can be either sold as a set or separate. The price listed is per lamp. We have used AI to generate the pictures with both lamp shown to give an impression of what this would look like.
This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
Quality, flexibility, very good communication, very happy with the coffee table I bought.
Table arrived very well crated, seller made process seamless.
