Carlo Nason’s lamp-and-vase models for A.V. Mazzega brought lighting and container form into one object. This example, known as LT 327 and supported by comparative references to the LT327 lamp-flower holder type, combines a lit white glass body with a separate clear upper vessel, so its reading shifts between table lamp and small illuminated centrepiece.

Design
The lamp is organised in three clearly legible parts: a broad lower hemisphere in white glass, a dark circular plate resting above it, and a separate clear domed vessel set into the centre. That stacked arrangement gives the object a low, wide base with a smaller rising centre, so the silhouette stays compact in front view and more layered in side view. The lower bowl provides almost all of the visual mass, with the clear upper section reading as a lighter cap rather than a continuation of the same volume. This separation keeps the combined lamp-and-vase format easy to read, rather than disguising one function inside another.

The relationship between the opaque lower body and the transparent upper dome is the central visual contrast. The white glass body is full of small bubbles, visible across the surface in the close photographs, which soften the passage of light through the bowl. When illuminated, that dense internal texture turns the lower section into an even, warm field rather than a clear view of the bulb or fittings. Above it, the clear dome remains largely transparent, showing reflections, the rim of its opening and the brighter interior beneath. The result is a deliberate difference between diffusion below and visibility above, with the two glass elements keeping separate optical roles.

The dark top plate acts as a sharp horizontal break between those glass volumes. Its flat circular outline projects slightly beyond the dome and aligns with the rim of the lower bowl, producing a strong band at the lamp’s widest point. In photographs taken from different angles, this plate appears almost as a lid set over the illuminated body, making the transition from glowing glass to clear vessel more abrupt. Its reflective surface also changes the reading of the upper section: reflections from the room and from the lit bowl travel across the plate, so the centre of the object appears visually denser than the softly lit perimeter of the white glass body.

The lamp changes character noticeably between its lit and unlit states. Unlit, the body reads as a substantial white hemisphere with a fine speckled internal pattern, and the clear upper dome appears cooler, with its thickness and curved wall more evident. Once illuminated, the lower bowl becomes warmer and more diffuse, casting a broad pool of light onto the supporting surface around the base. That spill of light extends beyond the footprint of the object, which makes the lamp appear less heavy than its rounded body suggests. The clear upper section does not glow in the same way; instead it catches highlights around the rim and across the curve, so the object retains a visible division between vessel and light source even when switched on.

Condition
Vintage condition with visible age and use. Some light scratches and handling marks on the dark top plate; no chips or cracks.
