This coffee table corresponds is named Model 751, a low table by Ico Parisi and produced by Cassina in Italy. The visible Cassina label on the frame supports the manufacturer, and the open arrangement of glass and dark stained wood matches published early 1960s examples of the model.
Design
The table is organised around a clear rectangular glass top laid over a dark wooden frame, with the glass extending past the structure on all four sides. That projection makes the outline read in two layers: a larger, thin transparent rectangle and a smaller, denser timber framework held within it. From above, the overhang leaves a band of clear glass around the edges, so the construction remains visible rather than concealed beneath a solid top.
Beneath the glass, the main body is formed by two long parallel rails running the length of the table, crossed by transverse members near each end. This arrangement creates a broad open centre and a repeated sequence of straight lines visible through the top. The frame does not fill the full width of the glass, which leaves the timber elements suspended within the larger plane and gives the model its characteristically spare appearance.
At the corners, the end supports are built as paired vertical elements rather than single solid legs. Their doubled profile produces narrow slots that stay visible from the front and sides, so the supports appear layered rather than block-like. The transverse rails meet these uprights in notched end details that also receive the glass, making the points where top and frame come together part of the visual composition rather than a hidden fixing.
A lower stretcher structure ties the ends together and reinforces the table’s low horizontal emphasis. Seen from the side, the upper rails, lower rails and paired uprights produce a measured stack of parallel and perpendicular lines, with open space between each level. The dark grain of the wood gives these members enough visual weight to register clearly through the glass, and the transparency of the top allows changing views of the frame, shadows and junctions as the table is approached from different angles.
Condition
Vintage condition with some visible wear from use and age. The glass shows light scratches and surface marks, and the wooden frame has rubbing, small edge wear and minor knocks in places; the photographs also show age to the Cassina label.
