An elegant interplay of glass and carved wood, this coffee table brings together lightness and sculptural detailing in a balanced composition. The transparent top appears to float above the frame, allowing the craftsmanship of the base to remain fully visible from every angle. Its proportions and restrained decorative rhythm place the table comfortably within the vocabulary of mid-century Italian design.

Design

The table is composed of a thick rectangular glass top resting on a finely constructed wooden frame. What immediately draws attention are the rounded stretchers, each carved with a continuous ribbed motif that runs along the full perimeter. This subtle repetition introduces movement and texture without disturbing the calm geometry of the piece. The warm tone of the wood contrasts beautifully with the cool clarity of the glass, creating an engaging dialogue between material and form.

Four elegantly tapered legs curve slightly outward, lending the table a poised and almost architectural stance. Seen from the side, the silhouette becomes particularly refined, with the legs giving the structure a sense of lift and fluidity. The generous thickness of the glass top contributes both visual weight and stability, reinforcing the table’s grounded appearance while maintaining transparency. Pieces such as this were often created during the 1940 and 1950s, when Italian furniture makers increasingly experimented with combinations of glass, carved wood and light construction techniques.

A table that works equally well as a centrepiece in a seating area or as a refined side table within a more curated interior. Its restrained detailing allows it to pair naturally with both modernist and more eclectic environments.

Condition

The table is profesionally restored and in very good condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with time. The glass top is well preserved and the wooden frame retains a warm patina.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
