A composition of warm wood tones, geometric detailing and an architectural base, this round dining table attributed to Carlo Ratti reflects the inventive character of mid-century Italian furniture design. Its refined proportions and combination of contrasting materials give the piece a distinctive appearance without compromising its functional purpose.

Design

The circular tabletop features a radial wood veneer, with individual sections arranged in a sunburst pattern that converges at the centre. This carefully composed surface draws attention to the natural grain and warm reddish-brown tones of the wood. A slender edge maintains a light appearance, creating an interesting contrast with the more elaborate construction beneath.

Supporting the tabletop is a central black metal column surrounded by four sculpted wooden elements. Their gently curved profiles narrow towards the middle before widening at the base, introducing an organic quality to the otherwise geometric composition. Below, a four-pointed metal base provides stability and incorporates decorative brass-toned rings, slender rods and circular feet. These details give the structure an architectural character, combining industrial materials with traditional woodworking.

The design reflects the experimentation found in Italian furniture during the 1950s, when designers increasingly combined wood and metal to create new structural and decorative possibilities. Its central pedestal allows chairs to be positioned freely around the table, offering a practical solution for intimate dining arrangements.

With its balanced proportions and considered material contrasts, this table works equally well in a residential dining room or a thoughtfully furnished interior project.

Condition

The table remains in good vintage condition, showing light scratches, minor surface marks and wear consistent with its age. The wooden veneer retains its warm colour and visible grain, and the metal base displays a natural patina.

I recently bought some amazing Artwork from AtKris Studio online. The whole experience was amazing. The transaction was amazingly efficient. The crating and shipping of the artwork to the United States from the Netherlands could not have gone smoother and the customer service was spot on!!  Krista was amazing and I highly recommend AtKris Studio!

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
