A quiet interplay of light and material defines this trio of wall appliques, conceived in the spirit of Murano’s glassmaking tradition during the 1970s. Their presence reflects a period in which Italian lighting moved towards sculptural clarity and atmospheric effect.

Design

Each applique is formed with a hand-shaped glass shade, combining amber tones with clear sections that hold small air inclusions and gentle irregularities. These details give the surface a sense of movement, shifting subtly with the light. The glass curves outward, allowing illumination to diffuse evenly while retaining a certain density at its core. Supporting elements are executed in brushed metal, offering a restrained counterpoint to the warmth of the glass. When illuminated, the internal bubbles and layered tones create a soft, almost liquid glow. The composition recalls the work of Carlo Nason, particularly his collaborations with Mazzega, where experimentation with form and transparency defined the output. Though unsigned, the construction and finish align with Venetian production methods of the period. Installed together, the three pieces form a balanced rhythm; arranged separately, they offer flexibility within an interior scheme.

A coherent set that balances decorative presence with functional lighting, grounded in the language of post-war Italian design.

Condition

The condition is very good. Metal components have been restored, while the glass shades retain light traces of age, consistent with their origin.
