Gaetano Pesce was an influential Italian designer and architect, and is celebrated for his unique approach that merges art with functionality, challenging conventional aesthetics. His "Nobody's Perfect" series embodies this philosophy, embracing imperfections to create one-of-a-kind pieces that highlight individuality. This side chair, part of the "Nobody’s Perfect" series, was designed by Pesce in 2003 and produced by Zerodisegno in collaboration with the Italian fashion house Etro.

Design

Crafted from polyurethane resin and color-printed plastic, it features a striking backrest shaped like an abstract face, adding a playful and expressive touch. The chair’s bold red and yellow palette, accentuated with golden tones, enhances its vibrant appearance, making it a visual centerpiece. The incorporation of paisley patterns from Etro adds a unique touch, merging Pesce's playful design with Etro's rich textile heritage. In line with Pesce’s design ethos, this chair uses mortise and tenon joinery, which is deliberately exposed to add an element of raw, industrial charm. This assembly method emphasizes both functionality and aesthetics, ensuring the chair is sturdy yet visually engaging. The backrest, though flexible, retains its strength, demonstrating Pesce’s knack for creating furniture that is extremely artistic and still practical. This chair is individually marked with 21/99, identifying it as a unique piece within the collection. The stamped logos of "ZeroDisegno", “Etro" and "Gaetano Pesce" at the lower inner back authenticate the chair, reinforcing its exclusivity and Pesce's vision of producing singular, handcrafted works of art.

Condition

The condition of the chair is very good but noteworthy of mentioning is that the “Etro” and “ZeroDisegno” logos are slightly damaged. However this doesn’t have any influence on the look of the chair.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
